Family Follow-up Genetic Testing
If an individual has a mutation, there is a 50% chance that each of their first-degree relatives has it too. DNA World offers genetic testing to parents, siblings, and adult children of people with mutations. To make it affordable, we offer huge discounts on Follow-up testing. Contact us for details.
Most Mutations are Inherited From Your Parents.
This means that your relatives on that side of the family may also have the same mutation. Additionally, each of your siblings and each of your children has a 50% chance of inheriting this mutation.
The Early Detection is the Key
Knowing that you have a mutation allows you and your healthcare provider to create a personalized screening plan, which increases the chance of early detection.
Learning that you haven’t inherited a family mutation is useful information as well, as it means your children will not inherit it.
Who is Eligible?
Blood relatives of a patient who was tested at our lab are eligible for family variant testing if A pathogenic, likely pathogenic, low penetrance or increased risk allele result was found on a DNA World‘s diagnostic or proactive panel or single-gene test (not available for exome or reproductive health testing). The family variant testing order must be placed within 90 days of the original patient’s test report.

If you want to order online, Provide your positive test results, or those of your relative. This allows us to verify if the mutation in your family is covered by our Family Follow-up Testing. You can also submit results from your parent, sibling, or adult child. You can also simply contact us and we will do it for you.
